and we're back...

It sure has been awhile. Why so long, you ask? Well, when CBS delays your sitcom until 2010, you end up with a lot of time and little money. This means it's back to the day jobs for Brian, Angel and I, as we work in the unfulfilling industry jobs waiting to get back into the game.

In the meantime, we've been keeping busy! We've been developing and writing something new (more on that later, hopefully). And, hopefully, fingers crossed, we'll have some "We Need Girlfriends" news in the near future. Believe me, we're just as anxious to get this thing going as you are to watch it. We're actually more anxious. Because day jobs are boring.

And what are you all up to?

Considering WNG was about your lives after you all became single, would it be too obvious that the new project is about four guys arriving in LA from New York to pitch a sitcom and becoming disillusioned when they are forced to take day jobs? :-p

haha. no, that would be incredibly boring to non-industry people. but while WNG was about our lives at 22, this is kind of about our lives as we close in on 30.

I dunno. I'm pretty sure someone said that non-medical people wouldn't find Scrubs funny at one point. And any other 'niche' sitcom.

I did read once that the best sitcoms have characters in places they don't want to be while they have other things they want to do with their lives (Fawlty Towers being the most obvious). I guess that's why WNG worked too.

Plus it'd be kinda an anti-Studio 60/30 Rock.

Now I know it's not, I might have to write something myself...but you'd need to write more posts for inspiration ;-)

I liked the roadtrip posts. Would be cool just to see what you are up to now and again, even if it doesn't involve projects. You seem like a nice bunch of guys.

Whatever happened to that "The Noise" thing that was advertised on your site?

How's the weather? I certainly hope your day jobs don't keep you boys tied up outside in the sweltering heat of random, sudden summer!

renee, the weather is sunny and bright. which, to me, is depressing.

eggbox, all good ideas. believe me, i would love to write a sitcom about the pilot process. but those shows are difficult to sell. perhaps as a webseries though...

anonymous, i ask myself that question every day.

I'm curious as to your feelings regarding the whole network thing.

Do you wish you kept doing WNG indie style?

Do you have an aversion to working with production companies/Hollywood for future projects?

price,

making "we need girlfriends" for the web was the greatest experience of my professional life. i loved every second of it. but, we made the webseries because we wanted to prove that we could work in the industry.

it's been an incredible, incredible ride, and although i miss the creative freedom and i wish things were moving faster, i'm still happy we sold it.
